Hey this is a brilliant idea. In fact, I'm surprised they haven't already thought of turning all of those huge motoway sidings into solar panels. Roads seem to be the only places that get sun in the UK...
-
i was thinking about something like that the otherday when i was driving. there are so many miles of roads and parking lots etc.

that's amazing! Bump
-
Well a lot of roads could use fixing anyway and retrofitting them to be solar collectors would solve infrastructure problems and energy problems at the same time.
-
wow, this is amazing. Is this efficient/cost effective? because it would save us the problem of infrastructure
-
this is a semi good idea, only because, we have the technology to extract unlimited electricity through our ION SPHERE, through the TESLA SPHERE, thanks to NICKOLA TESLA, since the 1920's. whatever happened to that? US government have the patents to make them since TESLA died in 1956 i believe, They seized all of his patents, and wont release them for public use. why not?

New innovations, they work! Awesome advances.

i was talking about a similar idea a while ago with friends... and wow..somebody was thinking in the same way too bad im not a scientist haha

Paving the Future?
Roads 2.0?
Green Road? -
This would be wonderful, I hope they can make this work, it would solve many problems. But Paving is also a great contributor to global warming. Every new paved road or parking lot adds its own little percentage rise, especially if trees and gardens or forests were destroyed to make way for the tarman. Existing pavement must be used.

Fantastic idea and Houston will still be an energy hub...our roads absorb the Houston heat so much so that when the clouds cover the ground becomes the sun.
-
Gotta like the idea ... and hope it really works and can be scaled up. We need more renewable energy sources - much more!
-
its ridiculous to think roads will save us.. more roads more driving more cars more pollution.. although its great to see an alternative use ..we should be thinking less about roads..
-
inovation, i always wondered if asphalt contributed to global warming ,roads reflect and hold so much heat.
-
thats brilliant. now how long would it take to start utilizing?

I think its a great idea and will be a big help, especially since is piggybacking infastructure. This makes it easy to service. I hope we can change our gov's spending, otherwise it will not happen.
