College Presidents Want Drinking Age Lowered

College presidents from about 100 of the nation's best-known universities, including Duke, Dartmouth and Ohio State, are calling on lawmakers to consider lowering the drinking age from 21 to 18, saying current laws actually encourage dangerous binge drinking on campus.

    I'm glad this movement is being spearheaded by presidents of these institutions and not just activist student groups.... don't get me wrong, student groups are GREAT, I work with them on my campus all the time, in fact I am employed by the Student groups agency, but there is only so much influence students can gain, and only so far they can go before it gets too far out of their local reach... The fact that the formal heads of universities are underwriting this matter means that much more! This idea is fantastic, but it can't come without proper education of responsible use, both from parents and the schools themselves. It will be a new era of responsibility if this measure is passed.
