Sending old newspapers and plastic bottles 10,000 miles for recycling in China produces more carbon savings than landfilling it in Britain and making new goods, reveals a study from the government body charged with reducing UK waste.

    I can't believe that sending trash around the world is better for the environment than dealing with it at home. How about reducing the amount of waste to begin with! Now there's your real carbon savings.

    The infrastructure for recycling in the UK is awful and something that needs investment. We should have different bins for all our waste, forcing us to compost and recycle as much as possible.
