'Bush Iran policy threatens US security'

More than 80 percent of US foreign policy experts say the Bush administration Iran policy has 'negatively impacted national security'.

The experts took part in a recent survey by the Center for American Progress and Foreign Policy which found that the US policy toward Iran during the presidency of George W. Bush to be a failure.

Three quarters of the experts believe President Bush is incapable of adequately dealing with the Iranian nuclear issue.

The US accuses Iran, a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), of pursuing a military nuclear program.

This is while according to the UN nuclear watchdog, Iran enriches uranium-235 to a level of 3.7 percent. Nuclear arms production requires enrichment level of above 90 percent.

The Bush administration has long sought to portray Iran's nuclear program, which is subject to the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as a threat to the international community.

The White House has also threatened to wage war on Iran - by striking its nuclear facilities - should Tehran continue its enrichment activities.

Iran says dialogue is the only acceptable means to clarify the peaceful nature of its nuclear program. However, it has warned that should the country come under attack it would target not hesitate to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty - including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The strategically vital strait, between Iran and Oman, is an essential conduit for energy supplies and connects the oil-rich region to free sea. As much as 40 percent of the world's sea-transited crude oil passes through the waterway.

Almost half of the experts who took part in the survey believe that the most important outcome of ongoing US military activities in Iraq has been the emergence of Iran as the most powerful country in the Middle East.

The US military alleges that Iran is fueling violence in neighboring Iraq. This is while the intelligence services within the army have yet to provide any concrete proof to support such accusations.

Pundits believe that by blaming Iran for the violence in Iraq, the Bush administration seeks to prolong its military presence in the oil-rich country and pave the way for a potential US strike on Iran.

We all know Bush is the biggest and dumbest looser to ever rig a vote and become president, it is how to get rid of this BOZO that is the problem.

Bush's existence threatens US security, unless of course you're rich or John McCain.

I hope whoever ends up in the White House on 1/20/09 has a better strategy for dealing with foreign nations than this administration's policy of bomb first, ask questions later.

It doesn't take experts to figure this out. The majority of the world has been saying this for a long time...

Neither does it take an expert to figure out his entire policy has been detrimental to the security of the world as a whole.

The war on "Terror" is a Sham brought upon the world by the rich to line their pockets with the worlds money.

You don't have to be an expert to realize this. I wonder what qualifies one as a foreign policy expert.

Whenever John McCain plays up his credentials as an "experienced" leader, I have to wonder if he isn't just reading from the same playbook as Bush.

I'm not saying that Obama would be better suited in this particular role, but at the very least he has shown a willingness to recognize that negotiation is a valid foreign policy tactic rather than going straight to an option that requires military action.

That is, assuming this situation can still be fixed with negotiation...

Should read: "80% of US foreign policy experts have common sense."

This story is a good example of how major surveys can be spun in various ways to appear to have wildly different results. For a real understanding of the results of this survey, which was conducted by the journal Foreign Policy along with the Center for American Progress, check out the link to that institution's website.

It is true that this survey of over 100 foreign policy scholars, both Republicans and Democrats, indicates that a large majority feel that the administration's Iran policy has had a negative effect on national security. However, the respondents also see progress in Iraq and an increase in safety for the US internationally overall.

In other words, there is some optimism brewing amidst continuing turmoil and uneasiness.

Radical Islam is going to be a serious pain in the ass for the western world no matter how you look at it. I wish these people would spend less time bashing president Bush and more time coming up with some LONG-TERM practical solutions instead.

It's really easy to criticize from the sidelines and in hindsight, and it only serves to hurt ourselves.

How about some constructive criticism people?

I'm not so sure "U.S. Foreign Policy Experts" know their ass from a hole in the ground.because obviously they would have constructed such deft policy as to avoid all these problems in the first place.

How can a survey taken by a liberal organization be considered non-partisan? Podesta and his left-leaning group are not to be trusted, especially concerning an issue of such great importance.

We must wake up and smell the coffee! Iran and it's sociopathic leader are dangerous to the world and we cannot just talk to him and make nice. We've been trying that tactic since the Carter debacle - it doesn't work!

Look, I know I come across as anti-american in all my posts but it is really just my form of tough love.

I have loved america since I was a kid and it hurts me to see you yanks allow it to degrade into something horrible.

Now, keep in mind that I am the exception.

Many countries thought of you as loud mouthed jackasses for years.

Now imagine that in the past 8 years I, some one who loved your country dearly, has been transformed into a Yank hating anti-american loud mouth that revels in every situation that hurts you americans on a personal level.

Now magnify that by 1000 for the rest of the people that didn't care either way in the first place.

If you are just starting to notice that your security is threatened you are in bad shape.

MANY, MANY, MANY people fucking hate your guts.

I, myself, can hardly look at my american friends in the face without feeling sick.

Imagine the rest of the world who were not all that keen on you in the first place.

Now imagine you are from a place where your brother has been put in an illegal prison for no reason and has now possible way of getting released. Now add the fact that you know he is innocent. Now add the fact that you know he is being tortured.

Your security means nothing to a very large portion of the world. It did before. But now you are hated, all because of how your majority has behaved since 9/11.

There were a million people on the streets of Tiran ofter 9/11 in a candle light vigil for the innocents lost in the twin towers.

How many would be out today?

You fucking americans are asking for abuse.

Your behavior is stupid. Your behavior is pathetic. Your behavior is sickening.

You are running out of time before even people like me, the one that loved you all dearly, as heros completely give up on you.

I don't think you realize that it has gotten that bad.

All I can say is, if I were an innocent non-violent iraqi that had a very quiet non-political life at this point I would be blood thirsty and have a very clear idea were to point my rage.

Wake the fuck up people before it is too late!!!!!

Wise up knuckleheads, your being lead around by left wing kooks.
You would expect this propaganda in a 3rd world country not here.
I hope bush's policys are threatening the security of Iran.
Only the brainwashed masses on the left would side with this crazed dictator, as usual on the wrong side of every issue. Bunch of traitors, go join the jihad so we can kill you.
