I believe the ingredients for world change
lies ready with in humanity now..!!!
all though, i believe humanity currently
understands and sees the world in the following
light;
A quote from Hemingway
"If people bring so much courage
to this world the world has to kill
them break them,
so of course it kills them.
the world breaks every one
and afterward many are strong
at the broken places.
But those that will not break
it kills.
It kills the very good,
it kills the very gentle
and the very brave
impartially".
These words are the echo of a tragic life.
I believe this echo resonates now in the heart of humanity
as truth.
This is what we must change this truth
into a new truth, with the following;
THE GREAT PEACEMAKER
One of our earliest founders lived well before Columbus
discovered America. The Great Peacemaker is said to
have been born in the great Lakes region of North
America sometime around 1000 Ad.
His people, the haudensaunee, now called the Iroquois,
were beset by endless conflict.Village fought village.
Blood raids led to retaliation. No one believed there
was a way out. Then came the time of the
Great Peacemaker.
.....When he comes of age, the Great Peacemaker
tells his grandmother and his mother that his time
has come to seek out other tribes and nations
and bring the a message of peace.
He sets off in his canoe, scanning the horizon for smoke.
Day after day he sees nothing, for all the
settlements are now hidden in the hills to
protect themselves from the war parties plaguing the land.
Finally, the Great Peacemaker sees hunters running
along a barren shore. He beaches his canoe and
says to them, "Go back to your settlement and tell
your chief that a new and good message has come,
the message of peace that is power."
When the tribal chief hears their news,
he asks the hunters," Who told you this?''
" He is called the Great Peacemaker in the world."
The chief wonders at this and asks, his eyes turning
toward the stockades that hold his starving,
quarreling people, " How could it be? From what
source will such peace come?''
the hunters simply reply: " it will come."
the hunters strength of conviction fully opens the chiefs
mind to his own faith that in the world of man
there is a force of peace that can come to the
people if only they will turn their minds to it.
" Truly," he says, " this is a wonderful thing.
This news of itself will bring the beginning of peace
to our people if once they can hear it and understand it
and believe it. It will begin to free their minds of the
hatred that comes from fear." The Great Peacemaker
passed from settlement to settlement, and the same scene
was repeated with each of the chiefs as they were quickly
convinced of the power of peace.
Why should these proud nations and warriors
so readily accept the message of peace?
Not because they were afraid of war. the message
is accepted not only in the hope of being freed of
something negative, but also because they glimpse
a peace that is infinitely more honorable than war
and more active. This peace demands a higher
level of courage and sacrifice than war.
It is neither static nor dull, nor is it fantasy of endless
pleasure. It is a force that can harmonize the
actions and impulses of human life in all their
multiplicity. It is a unifying energy that paradoxically
allows each element to flourish in its individuality.
It is the call to serve that which is far greater
than oneself. Who would not agree to this peace?
(i found this in "Yes Magazine")
I propose such a peace, now..!
"The Great Peace"
I am hear now and i will not go away.
Others have gone before me,
there substance steadies me now.
i am one human but if you add me up
i am legions.
peace, now.!!

The only problems are that pesky military-industrial complex, human greed, and the language/culture barriers. Inspiring story though. The world would be a much better place if we treated all other humans as friends not enemies, I haven't quite figured out why humans are as stupid and set in their foolish ways as they are, but hopefully one day world peace will come.

"What's in it for me?", is the worldwide obstacle that must be overcome if shared peace is ever to be a reality.
-
I think minds are turning to change now.
-
yes, minds are starting to change...but Huntre is right about WIIFM, I learned the hard way when people I trusted wanted fame for being part of a peace movement.
Peace will come tho, the movement is growing by leaps and bounds. People are making a difference-

I wonder how much energy is spent doughting peace?what if that energy was spent spreding peace,be gental to humans,i am not woried about who gets credit, my intrest is peace, prosparity and a helthy planet.

If a person concentrates for three minutes at time returning every time to concentrate for three minutes, a person can acomplish anything, even peace. -
I have always believed in this peace as a personal peace that will change the world one positive moment at a time.

Any "good" that is done hurts someone else.
It has to be figured out how to help everyone without hurting anyone.

Why isn't peace possible?? Different cultures, different religions and beliefs, different needs, different haves. I don't believe that man was made for peace..if our history has shown us...sadly!! Maybe we can say cooperation can be a better achievement. And it has to come or there will annihilation by some government that wants it all.

Thank you GentJIM, THAT WAS GOOD. Jammer: when we help people, we are taking their power away from them and saying that they can not do it on their own. When we ASSIST people we relay to them that if the burden is heavy we are there to lift up with them. That was told to me a long time ago and has stuck with me all these years. That quote of" Give a man a fish and it will fed him for a day, show him how to fish and he will never go hungry again." Let us show love and respect to each other and it will spread hopefully to others.

L O V E is all we need. I am still trying to get that in my mind all the time. I slip alot, but still keep trying. We lost "we" and started to focus on "I". Having been burden down with house payments, bills, working a job we hate. Longing to be free. When I was younger I never allowed myself to hang on to material things. Now that I am older I worry alot about what will happen to me when I can not work. Holding on to material things. I have been reminded that holding on to these things can destroy me. Can anyone understand what I am saying?
-
Hey Chris! I hear you and understand you. I'm 53. I've let go of so much and sometimes regret the little and big losses of things material that should not matter, but sometimes do. And I, too, fear an economic disaster -- loss of my work, loss of my insurance, loss of my income, an illness, a family loss. It's a heavy burden and drives me toward a more Zen-like perspective.... I don't think there's an easy, one-line answer, but I empathize with your quandary....
