At 15, Jacquline Mannering is a top student at her school near London. After school - she rocks! With the support of her family, she has been playing guitar from the age of five. Now her solo performances are viewed by thousands online, and she often showcases her talent live. Her musical journey is just beginning - and off to a rocking start. I want to offer CurrentTV viewers the chance to get to know Jacqui and her supportive family. I find her to be an inspiration, and I hope you enjoy watching my piece.

  • Wow, so much potential. I thought the sound could use some work, what kind of microphone were you using? Also, the distracting cuts away form the teacher, cut off in mid sentence, didn't work that well for me, but I do see what you were going for, maybe just a little different timing on your edits?

    I'll check this POD again later, to see if you've made some improvements, or to see if I'm just being too critical now.

  • Thank you for viewing jade_azul16 & covelgibbs for and helpful comments. Yes, this novice producer appreciates constructive commentary for improving this piece - and for future efforts. I'm not sure what to do about improving the sound, as I had tried to record sound separately with a digital recorder - but then discovered transfering it back to the video editing suite was not a good option. I am on the look out for an upgrade camera, that will allow me to use a better microphone. For this piece, I tried to use a separate mic, but discovered my Sony Handycam did not allow this. Suggestions for this situation are welcome! Thanks! -Lisa

  • wow - a grand first mini doc for current tv ms devaney! sound can be tricky.. but i'm sure you'll get it improved for a re-edit or future productions.

  • Hey Lisa,

    Great little doc - like the way you edited it MTV style.
    Re: sound you need to get the mic as close to the subject as possible - that's more important than the cost of the microphone. You will need a camera with a mic input though - otherwise you will have to spend ages synching everything up later.
